E-Bike batteries
They are usually equipped with IP54 protection rating or higher, so moisture can only get into them minimally. A common myth is that cold destroys the battery, but this is not entirely true. Riding an electric bike in freezing weather only reduces the range because there is more energy loss due to the weather. If you are travelling in temperature less than -10℃, we recommend using a neoprene battery cover. If you have just returned from freezing temperatures, rain or riding in extreme temperatures, we recommend that you allow the battery to acclimatise for at least half an hour before recharging. Only charge it at room temperature and always use the original charger supplied by the e-bike manufacturer. If you will not be riding your e-bike for a long period of time, it is advisable to take the battery out and store it in a dry place at room temperature. Do not forget to recharge it regularly, as over time it will self-discharge and its lifetime will decrease significantly - at least once a month.
Chain, gears
In wet conditions, the oil is washed out of the chain more quickly, causing the pins to grind out and create slack, thus lengthening the chain and shortening its life. In winter, use only thicker oils designed for chain lubrication. After a few rides, we recommend cleaning and then lubricating the chain.
Forks and shock absorbers
Wipe the dirt off the gliders with a cloth and dry. Then apply fork oil to clean gliders and wiper rings (do not use all-purpose oils). Squeeze the lubricated fork several times. With a dry cloth, wipe off any remaining oil from the gliders so that only a thin film remains. These components are most damaged by road salt in winter.
