How does SpeedBox 1.5 B.Tuning for Bosch work?

To properly activate all SpeedBox functions, it is necessary to enter the menu after turning on your e-bike and navigate to the circuit entry of your e-bike if you have older firmware in your e-bike.

This chip is also easy to use. The SpeedBox 1.5 B.Tuning chip can be activated either in the mobile app or on the e-bike display (always before riding, do not do it while riding!). After briefly activating the WALK function (holding the "-" button), the display shows 3.5 km/h (2.2 mph) and from that moment on you can ride 35 km/h (35 mph). You can change the default speed limit to any limit (up to 99 km/h), but to minimize the risk of error codes, we recommend not exceeding 35 km/h.

You can deactivate the chip function by reactivating the WALK function (holding the "-" button). The display will show 2.5 km/h (1.6 mph) and the 25 km/h speed limit is re-enabled. The e-bike then operates in the same way as before the chip was installed. Do not deactivate while riding.

We have also thought about electric bikes that do not have the WALK function available or active. In this case, you can activate and deactivate the tuning by double switching between the two modes, i.e. the combination of the - + - + buttons.

When you launch the SpeedBox App for the first time, you will be prompted to set a PIN. You will then use this PIN every time you start the SpeedBox App again. After selecting the PIN, you will also be prompted to set a service password to use in case you forget the PIN or want to change it.

Set the maximum assist speed by switching modes from TURBO mode down three levels and then up three levels (eMTB - TOUR+ - ECO - TOUR+ - eMTB - TURBO). The current speed limit will then be shown on the display. You can switch the maximum assist speed by briefly pressing the WALK button or by turning the bike 360°. Displaying 2.5 km/h corresponds to 25 km/h, 3.0 corresponds to 30 km/h, 3.5 corresponds to 35 km/h, etc. The last displayed limit is saved after 15 seconds of inactivity.

When you have finished riding, leave the e-bike switched on until the display permanently shows 0.0 km/h. During this phase, the remaining time will be shown on the display. Then you can safely switch off the bike and look forward to your next trip.

SpeedBox App for SpeedBox 1.5 B.Tuning for Bosch

The SpeedBox App designed specifically for SpeedBox B.Tuning uses Bluetooth technology to connect your e-bike to your mobile phone. After downloading the app and connecting your phone to your e-bike, you can see the current data and ride parameters on your phone's display. You can save individual trips, compare with friends and track your own performance. So you can enjoy your ride to the fullest and leave checking the parameters for later.

The SpeedBox B.Tuning chip is not dependent on the SpeedBox App. However, it is a great add-on that will give you a complete overview of your performance.

You'll get to try out the demo version, get to know all the features and make sure the app is fully functional on your phone. To connect to the SpeedBox B.Tuning chip, your phone must be equipped with Bluetooth 4.0 or higher.

Installation

Original connectors are used to manufacture the SpeedBox chips to make the installation of the chip really simple and the wiring correct. Detailed instructions and videos are available to help any customer handle the SpeedBox installation themselves. Disassembly of the tuning chip is as easy as assembly. If you have any problems with the wiring, please do not hesitate to contact us.

In case you are going to install the SpeedBox on a brand new bike, you need to ride it at least 10 km before running the chip for the first time.

Important

Connect the male-female connectors in the direction of the lock. Do not turn the connectors while plugging them in!

Caution

Please note that the operation of electric bicycles modified in this way on roads may be in contravention of current legislation in some countries. Neither the manufacturer nor the supplier accepts any liability for damage resulting from the use of SpeedBox products. E-bikes equipped with SpeedBox products may not be used on roads, cycle paths or public spaces. E-bikes equipped with SpeedBox products may only be used on your own property, solely at your own risk. We recommend the use of additional safety features and protective products to prevent injury.

We recommend that you do not update the firmware of your e-bike. Updating increases the risk of tuning detection.

Turn off automatic updates in the eBike Flow settings.

We recommend keeping one foot on the pedal when stopping briefly to avoid triggering the odometer.

For longer stops, allow at least a partial odometer count to run.

Do not remove the display to lock the e-bike until the odometer has been counted.

Activate/deactivate the tuning system during a stop, not while driving.

We recommend that you do not exceed the recommended maximum speed of 35 km/h.
