How does SpeedBox 1.3 for Bosch work?
To properly activate all SpeedBox features, it is necessary to enter the menu after turning on your e-bike and navigate to the circuit entry of your e-bike if you have older firmware in your e-bike.
This chip is also easy to use. The SpeedBox 1.3 chip is activated on the display of the e-bike. Do not activate the tuning while driving! After briefly activating the WALK function (holding the "-" button), the display shows 3.5 km/h (2.2 mph) and from that moment on you can drive at 35 km/h (35 mph). You can change the default speed limit to any limit (up to 99 km/h), but to minimize the risk of error codes, we recommend not to exceed 35 km/h.
You can deactivate the chip function by reactivating the WALK function (holding the "-" button). The display will show 2.5 km/h (1.6 mph) and the 25 km/h speed limit is re-enabled. The e-bike then functions as before the chip was installed. Do not deactivate while riding either!
We have also thought about electric bikes that do not have the WALK function available or active. In this case, you can activate and deactivate the tuning by double switching between the two modes, i.e. the combination of the - + - + buttons.
You can set the maximum assist speed by gradually switching the modes from TURBO mode down three levels and then up three levels (eMTB - TOUR+ - ECO - TOUR+ - eMTB - TURBO). The display will then show the current speed limit. Switch the maximum assist speed by briefly pressing the WALK button or by turning the wheel 360°. Displaying 2.5 km/h corresponds to 25 km/h, 3.0 corresponds to 30 km/h, 3.5 corresponds to 35 km/h, etc. The last displayed limit is saved after 15 seconds of inactivity.
When you have finished riding, leave the e-bike switched on until the display shows 0.0 km/h permanently. During this phase, the remaining time will be shown on the display. You can then safely switch off the e-bike and look forward to your next trip.
If you want to monitor the real values over the entire speed range from your ride, we recommend the SpeedBox 1.3 B.Tuning for Bosch version in the SpeedBox App on your phone display.
Installation
Original connectors are used for the SpeedBox chips to make the installation of the chip really easy and the wiring correct. We have detailed instructions and filmed videos so that every customer can handle the SpeedBox installation by themselves. Disassembly of the tuning chip is as easy as assembly. If you have any problems with the wiring, don't hesitate to contact us.
In case you are going to install the SpeedBox on a brand new bike, you need to ride it at least 10 km before running the chip for the first time.
Important
Connect the male-female connectors in the direction of the lock. Do not turn the connectors while plugging them in!
Caution
Please note that the operation of such modified electric bicycles on roads may be in violation of current legislation in some countries. Neither the manufacturer nor the supplier accepts any liability for damage resulting from the use of SpeedBox products. E-bikes equipped with SpeedBox products may not be used on roads, cycle paths or public spaces. E-bikes equipped with SpeedBox products may only be used on your own property, solely at your own risk. Use of SpeedBox products may void your e-bike's warranty.
We recommend the use of additional safety features and protective products to prevent injury.
We recommend that you do not update the firmware of your e-bike. Updating increases the risk of tuning detection.
Turn off automatic updates in the Ebike flow settings.
The warranty does not cover product malfunction caused by motor upgrades.
We recommend keeping one foot on the pedal when stopping briefly to avoid triggering the odometer.
For longer stops, allow at least a partial odometer count to run.
Do not remove the display to lock the e-bike until the odometer has run.
Activate/deactivate the tuning system during a stop, not while driving.
We recommend that you do not exceed the recommended maximum speed of 35 km/h.
