Ultralight engine inspired by the world of super sports
The PW-XM boasts a magnesium cover based on the experience gained from building components for the legendary Yamaha R1M Supersport motorcycle. It is the use of magnesium, which significantly reduces weight and improves heat dissipation, that contributes to cooler operation, greater reliability and stable performance even in demanding conditions.
The “M” in the engine's name has a double meaning - in addition to “magnesium”, it also refers to the Japanese town of Morimachi, famous for its mountain biking tradition, where PW-XM engines are made.
Top power-to-weight ratio
With 250 W of power and an assisted top speed of 25 km/h, the PW-XM is among the absolute best in its class. It is designed to provide intuitive handling and a natural riding experience thanks to Yamaha's zero cadence technology and auto-assist mode.
Compatibility and modularity
The PW-XM is fully compatible with frames designed for the PW-X3 and PWseries S2 drive units, allowing manufacturers to easily integrate without the need for major design modifications. Plus, it can be paired with all displays and batteries in Yamaha's current lineup - ideally with the technically refined, minimalist Interface X interface.
