Extremely useful - surprisingly small
The GSD can easily carry two children and a week's shopping or 180 kg of cargo, yet measures only 180 cm in length, less than a Dutch-style city bike. Thanks to the folding Physis stem and retractable seatpost, you can store the bike in your apartment or transport it in a larger station wagon. The GSD can be individually adjusted for people between 150 and 195 cm tall, so it can be used by everyone - mum, dad and kids. The top-of-the-range Bosch Cargo motor is powered by two 500 Wh batteries, giving the GSD a range of up to 250 km. It comes with integrated lighting, mudguards, a centre stand and even footrests for the passenger - everything you need for cycling.
The GSD is designed to transport cargo, and by that we mean a lot of stuff. The frame, forks and components have been tested to handle more than 180kg of total rider and cargo load. It comes standard with an integrated 80cm rear rack. The GSD can accommodate two children in Thule Maxi seats or one adult passenger. Additional racks can be added to the bike in the form of bottom brackets and a rear or front rack. Tern will also publish the dimensions of the frame attachment points so that interested parties can design and build their own rack accessories.
Portability, storability
Although the GSD can carry extremely large loads, it has no problem in dealing with busy urban environments. Since it is no longer than a standard bicycle, it fits on standard racks on cars and buses. What's more, it can be folded down to an even smaller size using the off-road patented folding mechanism. Just three seconds are needed to reduce the height by 1/3 and the width by 40%. The resulting dimensions thus allow the bike to be transported INSIDE mid-sized cars such as the VW Touran. Thanks to the specially designed carrier, the GSD can be transported vertically even in a small lift.
